Radioisotope facility

All work at the Blizard Institute involving the use of radioisotopes must be performed in our shared Radioisotope Laboratory and is governed by our own Local Rules and the QMUL Health & Safety project approval process. Centre Radiation Protection Supervisors (RPS) are appointed to oversee Users working under approved projects.

Training in Radiation Safety provided by the College H&S Directorate is mandatory for all Users.

A Radiation Protection Manager (RPM) controls all work with radioisotopes at the Blizard Institute. The Blizard Institute also has access to gamma irradiation facilities, while work involving X-ray and non-ionising radiation is performed in the Trust and at other campuses at the College. For further information on use and collaboration involving such facilities, please contact the RPM.
