Based in Whitechapel in the heart of London's east end, the Centre aims to deliver world leading research and education to inform and support local and global primary care and public health policy.
The Centre brings together some of the UK's leading researchers, practitioners and educators in a vibrant, multidisciplinary group, including those with backgrounds in general practice, biostatistics, medical sociology, immunology, genetics, public health, nursing, bioethics and psychology. The Centre is one of the top health services research units in the UK, ranking fourth (out of 24) in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise with 65% of research outputs rated as internationally excellent or world leading. Since 2008 we have attracted further world-class senior staff.
We have programmes of innovative and internationally relevant research and education and have had a research grant income of £15 million in the last five years.
